NELSON BALL RETIRES.
I INTERESTING CAREER. Nelson Ball, who represented the Dominion at Rugby in New Zealand, Australia and Great Britain, has retired from the game. He recently suffered a knee injury, and, after a spell from the game, he played for Feilding High School Old Boys in a seven-a-side tourney at Bulls. He found that tile kn§e would not stand up to play; therefore he decided to retire. He had been playing for Feilding Old Boys in the Manawatu Rugby Union competitions, being an old boy of the Feilding Agricultural High School, and will con-
tinue to assist in the coaching of the team, which is leading in the championship table. Mr. Ball is an officer of the Agricultural Department, and is employed as a meat inspector, at the Aorangi Freezing Works. Nelson Ball played wing-threequarter against Australia at Edefi Park in 193 i (New Zealand won 20—13), and was a member of the 1932 All Blacks who won the Bledisloe Cup that year at Sydney. He also fielded against Wales and England on the tour of the 1935 All Blacks, and scored New Zealand's only tries at Carditt,! when the Welshmen won the Test 13—i(Gilbert converting one and potting a goal).
