FIRM MARKET. COLOMBO AND CALCUTTA. At the usual weekly sale of Ceylon tea held at Colombo 011 the 14th instant, the quantity placed under offer amounted to 2,125,0001b. Quality at the sale showed a general improvement. The result of the sale showed that commonest, commons and low mediums were barely steady, with mediums very strong. Growers, where good and fine sorts were offered, made heavy withdrawals, due to prices at the sale not meeting with their requirements. Actual price alterations showed a firm market on commons and price broken orange Pekoes, an increase of %d pel' lb on plain 8.0.P.'5. a firm market 011 first classic broken Pekoes and a reduction of %d per lb 011 fine broken orange Pekoes. Next week's sale is expected to total 3,275,0001b. A report 011 the sale held at Calcutta on the 13th instant showed that the quantity offered amounted to 1,400,00011). Quality of Dooars showed a falling off, while Assams were well maintained. The I result of the sale showed that the market I was fully firm, quotations being un-1 changed. j
