"WAR BIRDS."
REUNION DINNER HELD. GATHERING AT WELLINGTON. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. Memories of all manner o£ aeroplane work carried out during the Great War were revived at the annual "war birds' " dinner at the Midland Hotel. The tables were decorated with flags and the walls were hung with aeroplane propellers. Major A. l)e Bathe Brandon, who was a member of the Royal Flying Corps, and who had the distinction of shooting down a Zeppelin, presided.
Among those present were four former members of the Royal Naval Air Service, Flight-Lieutenant W. Man and Messrs. H. Beamish, E. M. King and P. K.. Fowler, and the following former members of the Royal Flying Corps or Royal Air Force:— Wing-Commander T. M. Wilkes, officer commanding the Royal New Zealand Air Force; Squadron-Leader J. L. Findlay, of Christchurch; Squadron-Leader G. L. Stedman, of Wellington; Squadron-Leader N. E. Chandler, of Blenheim; SquadronLeader T. W. White, of Gisborne; and Messrs. H. Smith, G. A. Hutchinson, A. L. Macfarlane, A. M. Hislop, M. S. C. Gordon, C. H. Pettigrew, G. A. Nicholls, H. S. Montgomery, R. O. Montgomery, C. D. Warburton, H. C. Lloyd, and C. W. D. Bell. Among the apologies for absence were those from Air-Marshal Sir Robert Clark-Hall, of Christchurch; WingCommander K. L. Caldwell, SquadronLeader L. M. Isitt, and Flight-Lieutenants M. W. Buckley, S. Wallingford and H. B. Burrell.
