MOTOR FATALITY

COURT CHARGE FOLLOWS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Thursday. A sequel to a fatal motor accident on the Main South Road near Oakura, on June 11, was the arrest of Samuei Edward Oeorge Hawke, a well-known farmer, of Tatfuaimaka. Accused was charged in the Police Court to-day with driving a motor vehicle negligently, and thereby causing the death of Leonard Wylie Blanchard. Detective Kearney said, the police would not oppose bail being granted, but, in view of the serious nature of the charge, he suggested bail should be substantial and nominated the sum of £300. This was agreed to, and bail was fixed in accused's own recognisance and in one surety of a similar amount, or in two sureties of £150 each.
