LOCAL BODIES.

MOUNT ALBERT BOROUGH COUNCIL The Mount Albert Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor, Mr. R. Ferner, presiding. Football Field Extension. —It was decided that the extension of the football field in Owairaka Park be carried out as an authorised work under the intermittent work scheme. Concrete Patiis. —The engineer was authorised to proceed with the concreting of paths in Oak Avenue, Ranleigii Road, Harlston Road, Grande Avenue, Murdoch Road. Preston Avenue, Braemar Terrace, and Stewart RoadBuilding Permits. —For the three weeks ended June 25 the building permits issued in the borough numbered 19, and were of a total value of £3955. MOUNT ROSKILL ROAD BOARD. The meeting of the Mount Roskill Road Board was presided over last night by ill'. C. M. McCullough. Hospital Levy.—The board's contribution to the Auckland Hospital Board for 193(3-37 has been assessed at £1986 14/4. This is less than last year. Xo. 5 Scheme.—The Royal Oak school committee advised >hat it does not propose to continue the use of Xo. 5 scheme labour. Bus Service. —The Auckland Transport Board furnished the board with reasons why the terminus of the bus service at Waikowhai Hall was preferable to the corner of Dominion Road extension and Hillsboro' Road. The information was referred to a committee for consideration. Sanitation. —A special committee was set up to consider the inspector's report of the number of contributors to the sanitation service in the western area, with special reference to septic tanks and drainage. Tenders. —Twelve tenders were received for the supply of a concrete mixer ranging in price from £60 (for a second-hand machine) to £208 for "a new one. A special committee will deal with these and report to the board. Offer of Land.—A ratepayer offered a portion of land for the purpose of a public road. In the absence of a plan, the committee appointed to deal with it reported that it was unable to consider the matter. The question arose, continued the report, as to whether the board at the present time required any of the land for the purposes of a public road. Roads Maintenance. — A favourable reception was given by the board to a scheme prepared by the city engineer, Mr. J. Tyler, whereby a debt owing to the City Council by the board, amounting to £526, might be liquidated in maintenance work on boundary roads connecting the districts. It is proposed to spread the payment over a period of six years, the work to comprise scavenging, surfacing and general maintenance work in Landscape, Selwyn and St. Andrew's Roads. This proposal drawn up by Sir. Tyler was in response to the board's request to be allowed to do the work instead of paying the City Council the money due under an agreement. The works committee will report on the proposal at the next meeting. New Buildings.—The inspector reported that there are 26 buildings in course of erection in the district. During the last fortnight 12 permits were issued, of a total value of £3915. Drivers' Licenses.—These number 1050 to date, as against 890 for the same period last year. Missing Tools.—The foreman reported that after checking up the tools purchased during the past six years only about 45/ worth was missing. The chairman said the report was very satisfactory. Special Meeting.—The board will hold a special meeting in committee next Tuesday night to consider a programme of works submitted by the foreman. GLEN EDEN TOWN BOARD. Mr. A. J. Routley presided over the meeting of the Glen Eden Town Board held on Monday evening. Crossing Signals.—A communication was received advising that the Edenview Road crossing had been included in a list of crossings at which an automatic warning signal is to be installed. The Automobile Association (Auckland) is to be requested to erect a "dangerous side road" sign at the corner of West Coast and Prospect Roads. Glen Eden Town Hall Building. — The lender of W. C. Curtis was accepted for the erection of the Glen Eden Town Hall, and the building will proceed immediately. Morningside Tunnel.—lt was decided to arrange a deputation to interview the visiting Ministers with the object of stressing the importance and desirability of proceeding with the Morningside tunnel scheme at the very earliest possible date.
