Wilsons Cement were also more active and showed appreciation to over £2, with final quotations from £2 0/3 to £2 0/6. Buyers remained in for most Government issues, sellers keeping off, and no business resulting. Largely as a result of the Prime Minister's clear-cut statement on the tariff position as affecting Australian exports to Japan, the investment market on the Sydney Stock Exchange to-day developed an improved tone. Price rises, although small, largely outnumbered falls. Government securities were relatively quiet and steady.
