"LOSS TO PROFESSION."
LATE MR. C. A. SPEIGHT. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, Thursday.
Tributes to the late Mr. C. A. Speight, barrister and solicitor, who died suddenly yesterday, were paid by Bench and Bar at a gathering at the Hamilton Magistrate's Court this- morning. Mr. J. F. Strang, president of the Hamilton District Law Society, stated that Mr. Speight had won wide respect and affection by his genial and kindly nature and his death meant a loss to the profession. He referred to Mr. Speight's active association with Rugby football and Freemasonry. His kindly encouragement and advice to law students, he added, would be greatly missed. Mr. S. L. Paterson, S.M., associated himself with the tributes, stating that j Mr. Speight had gained the confidence of all by his integrity. The Court then adjourned.
