GIRLS WARNED.
"I\IOT TOO SHORT."
SMARTNESS—NOT REVUE CHORUS. I (Special.—By Air Mail.) LONDON, May 23. Shorts for women athletes must not be too short—in other words, they must reach "half way down the thigh." Sleeves of track outfits are to be "not less than an inch and a half in length." Notices calling attention to these rules have, been sent out to club secretaries by the Women's Amateur Athletic Association. An official of the association said this week: "Girls are now buying and making their own track outfits, and our rule, is so ambiguous that it can be misrepresented. But it is the best way of putting it. If we said that shorts should not be less than four inches —or any other measurement —in length, they would be quite long on. small girls, but dreadfully short on the tall ones.
"We want English women athletes to look smart and business-like without looking like revue chorus girls."
