WRESTLING.
KRUSE TO APPEAR ON TUESDAY. matman lias been as keenly sought by the New Zealand Wrestling Union a P er '°, ( l years as has Bob Kruse ( 'The Portland Cabbage Farmer"), and the fact that Kruse is at last in the Dominion, besides being a tribute to the efforts of those responsible for the selection of the union s men this season, lias (erred to arouse great interest in the matches of the next few weeks. Kruse will make his first appearance at Auckland 011 the King's Birthday, when he will meet Harry Kent, the Oregan University star, who' has been recalled from Australia because of the strong demand for his services in this country. Kruse is orte of the most enthusiastic wrestlers, that the game has shown. When lie was a youth he often walked 15 miles both ways for " his lessons at Ted Thye's Portland School, and it has been said that he ■would sooner miss,.a meal, than a chance to wrestle. He rapidly rose to prominence among the amateurs, winning American national championships in the two top divisions, and as a professional he lias proved capable of extending the best and beating most of them. The only two champions who have beaten him in title matches were "Strangler" Lewis and Jim 1 Browning, while others, such as Londos, O'Mahoney, and Lopez have consistently shied clear of him. In fact, Londos was more afraid of meeting Kruse any | other wrestler in the States. Kruse specialises in wristlocks, hamnierlocks and scissors grips, while he is an .aggressive wrestler who provides the spectators with • 'enty of thrills.
