Major A. J. Edney arrived by the Limited express this morning. Mr. A. M. Seaman will leave for Wellington by this afternoon's train. Mr. S. S. Scott returned this morning from a brief business trip to Wellington. Mr. C. F. Esteell, manager in Xew Zealand for Universal Films, Limited, returned to Wellington last night. Commander C. B. Tinlev, officer in charge of the Devonport Xaval Base, returned to Auckland this nrorning. Mr. A. E. Ford, manager of the Auckland Transport Board, left for Wellington 011 a business trip last evening. Dr. James B. Cable, who has been medical registrar at the Wellington. Hospital, has left for London for the purpose of furthering his medical studies. ilr. W. J. Grant, editor of the "Rangoon Times," Rangoon, will sail on the Wanganeila to-morrow en route to Burma after being over two months in Xew Zealand. Mr. T. Hirokawa, of Kobe, Japan, arrived from Sydney by the Wanganeila yesterday to investigate trade conditions in Xew Zealand. He is staying at the Grand Hotel. Mr. E. L. White lias been transferred to the Auckland branch of the Queensland Insurance Company, Limited, and Mr. X. Trewby has arrived in Dunedin to succeed Mr. White. Mr. R. 11. Xesbitt, Australian Trade Commissioner in Xew Zealand, returned from Sydney by the Wanganeila yesterday and left' for Wellington by 'the Limited express last night. Mr. W. I. Deavoll, private secretary to the Minister of Education, has been appointed secretary to the Wellington Education Board in succession to Mr. E. S. Hilton, who is retiring. Mr. Deavoll has been in the Public Service for 30 years and has served six successive Ministers of Education as private secretary.
