N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd. Beef.—Our yarding was fully an average one. There was a ready demand throughout, with values very firm at late, rates. Extra choice ox sold, to 27/ per 1001b; choice and prime, 24/ t0 : 26/; secondary and plain, 20/ to 23/; prime young cow and heifer beef, 23/ to 20/; secondary, 18/ to 22/. Extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £12 5/ to £13 10/; heavy, £11 5/ to £12 2/6; lighter, £9 15/ to £11 5/; light, £7 10/ to £0 10/; small and unfinished, £5 10/ to £7 5/. Extri heavy prime young cows and heifers, £7 10/ to £8 10/; heavy, £0 5/ to £7 7/6; lighter, £5 to £6 2/6; light, £3 15/ tj £4 17/6; others, £1 15/ to £3 10/. Calves.—Our entry of calves was larger than last week and competition was again keen, with values very firm. Runners, £S 10/ to £4 11/; heavy vealers, £4 4/ ti> £4 10/; medium, £3 8/ to £4 3/; light, £3 to £3 7/; smaller, £2 5/ to £2 19/; small and fresh dropped, 6/ to £2 4/; rough calves, IS/ to £2 3/. Alfred Buckland and Sons, Ltd. Beef.—We penned fat cattle to the number of 214. as against 259 head last week, comprising 53 steers and 161 cows and heifers. The quality of ox beef yarded was not quite up to the usual standard, bidding was spirited and late rates were fully maintained. Cows and heifers were also of medium quality and sold free0 r at slightly better values.
