PAPATOETOE CLUB
Another perfect day favoured the Papatoctoe cyclists' weekly meeting on Saturday, and fast times were registered. Norm WardeH,' short, sandy-haired, fastpedalling back-marker, l>rought about Charlie Cochrane's first defeat of the season, a defeat which was not altogether unexpected from Norm." He has several times previously run the champion very close, so it was pleasing to see him gain time honours. . 'When Ray Beehre entered the straight with a bunched field, he'gave the others no show in the sprint, gaining one of the most decisive wins of the season. Beehre seems verv likely to be in the club team this year, for he rode from a tight back m When Colin Francli cultivates a sprint he will be one of the club's best men. It is only in the last dash that he goes under, and can he climb hills! Lan Tost was expected to show great form this year, but so far has disappointed. Bill O'Shauglynessy, recovered from his spill in the previous weeks centre race, again skidded and came to grief, Laurie Ivnott was the winning junior. H® has not been long in demonstrating his liking for road work, and his finish was outstanding. . . G Eyre seems a real find, for in his last two races he lias each time been second, being an exceptionally strong pedallei. \j. Noonan (third) will also be a good proposition with experience, and his lourtn place in the last centre race was a great ride.
