The weather, though dull, wa.s fine while most of the training operations were in* progress at Riccarton this morning. Towards the dose there was a light shower of rain, but it did not last long. Tile inside of the trial grass track provided good going, especially along tin; back, where it was very last. I iie horses engaged at the Dunedin meeting provided all tile interest, but there was not much cxcitement. some of them being restricted to useful tasks. Dollar Bill and Greek Gold, after taking 39 3-, T <> for the first three furlongs, completed seven in 1.34 1-5. They were going comfortably. Royal Gallant, with The Cleaner to assist him over the last six, was not hurried over nine furlongs in 2.1, the last four in 50s. Madam Pompadour went easily over half a mile up the back in 555. Cranford covered seven furlongs in 1.33 2-5. the last four taking So 2-js. Capital reeled off halt' a mile up the back in 49 4-os. going well. Palm occupied. 1.23 for the' last six furlongs of hi;; work. Courtyard and Polygraph strode over seven furlongs in 1.33, the last four in 53 3-ss. Red Tod and Sisteriua took 1.20 for six furlongs, doing the last foulnicely in 53s Fair Weather went brilliantly over half a mile up the back in 48s. ' Polydora broke away at the ninefurlong post, and finished her task in 1.50. the last mile iu 1.43, and the last haltmile in 53 2-ss. - Most of the horses with engagements in jumping events at the Dunedin meeting were given useful tasks on the sand. Although Greek Gold is an acceptor for the first day' of the "Dunedin meeting it is unlikely lie will make the trip to vVingatiii, where J. S. Shaw has Dollar Bill engaged in most of the same races. Greek Gold will be kept" going, and probably he will make his next Appearance at Trentham. Sea Fox will be allowed to miss his engagements at the Dunedin meeting. He is having a short spell, following on his North Island trip, and will not be raced again until the August meeting at
