(By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The week opened brightly, with a wide range of dealings at generally improving prices. In the Government section 1955 stock was quoted ex interest, with unsupported sellers at £104 5/. Banks were quiet, English and Scottish seeming firmer, with a market between, £6 5/ and £0 5/0, and New Zealands weak, with sellers ottering £2 4/6 and no buyers. There was a good inquiry for insurances, and Nationals held their recent advance at business, and buyers at 18/3, with no sellers. Standards were quoted wide from £3 2/0 to £3 10/. Tooth's Brewery were firmer, the market finishing between £2 12/ and £2 12/9. Rises in Electrolytic Zinc preferences to £2 0/9, in Broken Hill to £3 13/3, and in Dunlop Rubbers to | 17/9 were the main features of the miscellaneous section. All buying offers remained firm for Australians, and Dominion issues were steady, with the exception of Consolidated Bricks, which sold at the sharp drop of 6d.
