TRIP ABROAD.

AUCKLANDER'S VIEWS.

DOMINION'S PRODUCE.

BETTER ADVERTISING NEEDED

The need for better advertising of New Zealand's primary products in Britain was stressed to-day by Mr. J. Emanuel, an Auckland business man. on his return by the Mariposa from an overseas trip which extended over 11 months. Mr. Emanuel said that one noticed that Australian products, particularly butter, were being very extensively advertised everywhere, and there was much room for improvement as far as New Zealand advertising was concerned. The Australian effort was being made per medium of shop windows, counter displays and the newspapers. The New Zealand High Commissioner's office hail done much good work, but tiiere was still a great deal left undone. Mr. Emanuel said that on the Continent of Europe it was obvious in the different countries that things were greatly unsettled, contributory reasons being the Italian situation and the internal troubles that France was passing through, and there was a genera! feeling that it was only a matter of time when there would be war. In England it was evident that business was generally prosperous, and the same applied to the United States, although there the financial situation was not so certain. In both England and the United States Mr. Emanuel inquired into s broadcasting, and visited headquarters of the 8.8.C. and National Broadcasting Company of America. The position in regard to television was interesting and great progress was being made in the direction of perfecting it, although it was evident that it would be some time yet before it came before the public. Mr. Emanuel said that all through Britain one was impressed by the feeling of good will towards New Zealand. The recent tour of the All Black football team had done a great deal to bring the Dominion before the notice of the British public, and he felt that national tours of the kind were an excellent thing for all the countries concerned.
