The New Zealand racehorse Erua ; who arrived by tlic Wanganella, received injuries after his arrival which necessitated veterinary attention. Tilt horse was severely cut, and was bleeding freely. Another ' New Zealand horse, Wagner, was landed in good order, and went to Fled Williams to be trained. FIDELITY FRACTURES PELVIS. Fidelity, champion two-year-old filly oS the present racing season, was seriously injured in a paddock while spelling, fracturing her pelvis. Fidelity will not be abk , to run this wprin*;. and prospects of racing her again are indefinite. 'CHASER DESTROYED. (By Telegraph.—l'ress Association.) IXYERCARGILL, Tuesday. The steeplechaser Eeclefechan, -owned by Mr. W. 11. Campbell, of Wint'on,' was destroyed this morning after breaking a lr'nd leg while training. STABLE AND TRACK NOTES FROM A GOOD FAMILY. Treasurer, the latest addition to the team of H. Xurse, is a yearling eodt b> Paper Mpney from Sweet Beauty, so he comes front' the same family as JPolydorn and Rebel Star. He is a very attractive youngster, and he will be got ready to race tor Mr., (i. Hall. ■ IN EASY WORK. A. McAulay is giving Southdown nc more than easy tasks at present at Riccarton, but ho;pes to have him ready to race in August, provided the conditions are favourable, 'as he requires a firm track, He won at Ashburton iii December, that being his last appearance. DOUBTFUL PROSPECT. -Thuriua is a daily visitor to the tracks at Riccarton. He is muscling up well on the miles of useful pace work he gets, chiefly in the centre of the course. In the meantime he is. sound, but it is too early yet to say that he is likely to stand up to more strenuous tasks. If he does he will keep all his opponents busy in the Grand National Steeplechase. IMPROVED IN CONDITION. During the last month Lord Val has improved in condition very noticeably .and he is also putting more dash into his track efforts. Tins horse is due to reappear at the Opotiki meeting to be held at Tau : ranga on June 23. It is some mouths since the son of Valkyrian had a race and he may need a few o.utings before he is at his best.

A NEW PATRON. Hector Gray, who is getting a team together at New Plymouth, was a visitor to , Hawera recently and. took back with him j the rising three-year-old by Paper Money j from the Absurd mare Tinihanga. The] latter is from Formless, who was out of . Dreamer, the dam o£ Bou Meve and Havering. The colt, who is a likely prospect from such a family, is owned by Mr. T. Coltman, of Wellington. WILL GET SUPPORT. Woodful was among those entered for jumping events at the Great Northern meeting, but he was not produced. This gelding .won over hurdles at the recent Waipa meeting at Te Awamutu, which was his first start in this branch of the spbr.t. He made siich a great showing that he will not lack for support if he is produced in the Otara Hurdles at Tauranga on King's Birthday. CLUBS SEEK EXTRA DAYS. Several clubs have applied to the Racing Conference for extra racing dates for next season. The Geraldine, Marton, Manawatu, Waverley, Stratford, Taranaki, Carterton, Levin and Greymouth Clubs have been favourably recommended by their respective district committees, but the Auckland district committee has made no recommendation in the cases of the Matamata, Kotorua, Te Aroha, Thames and Waipa Clubs, also the Kotorua and TJay of Plenty Hunt Clubs. BIG DIVIDENDS. ■ Only one ticket-holder coupled the two horses, Finalist and Battle Ground, constituting the totalisator! daily double, at jSTewbury, Berkshire (England) recently. For the outlay of 10/ he received £2108 5/, representing odds of over 4215 to 1. The ticket-holder was Mr.. P. Parnell, a wellknown racegoer. He was one of a small syndicate. Newbury has had three records for big 'totalisator daily double dividends since 1930. The present record is 4591 to 1, paid over M. Tickler-and Boozer's Gloom in October, 1934. WAS NOT STARTED. Windsor Lad, after winning the Hack and Hunters' Steeplechase at Te Awamutu, was debarred from starting in hunters' races for which he was entered on the first two days of the Great Northern meeting. He was accepted for in both the Tamaki and the Winter Steeplechases on Saturday, but was-not started owing to going off his feed. Ihis is the first time Windsor Lad has been taken, away from home on a long trip, and he did not settle down too well. He is engaged in jumping events at Wanganui and also at Taurauga on June 20 and 26, and : if produced at his best at either meeting he should take some beating, for he is a really good jumper and can stay well. MET HER MATCH. Val Watch, who has been off.the scene for some time, made her reappearance in hurdle races at the Great Northern meeting. Oil the second day she contested the Kenuiera Hurdles, but found one who could go with her and outjump her in Clarion Call. This pair carried on the run-1 nin<' for over a mile and a halt, but she then tired and was beaten into third place, in tha Campbell Hurdles she again went to the front and was clear of the field at the second to last fence, where she came to grief. She was going well at that stage, and if she had stood up there is little doubt that she would have taken s6me heading oil. Val Watch has no immediate engagements, but if taken to some of the southern meetings she should more than pay expenses.

RAN SECOND TWICE

A very promising steeplechaser was seen out at the Great Northern meeting in Irish Comet, who ran second to Tangled in the limit Club Cup and also occupied a similar position to Forest Glow in the Winter Steeplechase. He jumped well in both events, and his owner-trainer, R. evidently had a good opinion of him, as he withdrew him from the Tamaki Steeplechase, a hack event, to run him in the Winter Steeplechase. Irish Comet is by Day Comet, who has produced several good jumpers, including Aurora Borealis, winner of the Great Northern and the, Grand National Steeplechase, from Rape of the Lock, by Spalpeen (also a great producer of good jumpers) from Gold ■ Tress, by Nelson, a treble winner of the • Auckland Cup. Irish Comet, though get- , ting oh in years, should win a good jump-1 ; ing event before his career is ended. !'

ENTERED AT WANGANUI. Among the horses from the Auckland ' province entered for the Wanganui winter | ! meeting, to be held on June 20 and 23, j are Teddy Boy, Dancing Lady, Spalpiko, Windsor Lad, 'Velocipede, Landlubber and' Triune. j ' BEATEN EACH START. j I Keith Lu had three more defeats regis-1 ! tered against him at the Great Northern I meeting, and he will have to show considerable improvement to get a stake at a metropolitan meeting. ""■ however, he is engaged in the Opotiici Cup and the Highivciglit Handicap at Tanninga this month, mil if .he happens to strike a .-soft track he nay do better. SHAPED WELL FOR BEGINNERS. The latest recruits to the jumping brigade :iro Soliu* and Speedfast. At Kilerslie yesterday they were given a trial over four pony hurdles in the centre, and shaped in in encouraging manner for beginners. These two hacks possess any amount of speed, and when they learn to jump correctly should be a useful addition to the lurdling ranks. GOING WAS AGAINST HIM. Owing to the firm going Black Mnrlin ivas not seen at his best in the Campbell Hurdle Race at Kilerslie last Saturday. He lost some ground, owing to a faulty j iump along the back and never showed iny dash afterwards. However, he has ;one on the right way since and will iccompany Lord Val to the Opotiki meeting, where he is engaged in the Otava Eurdle Knee. LIKELY TO DO BETTER. Blackmail was started each day at the •eceut Great Northern'meeting, but failed to get into the money. However, he showed ip fairly well in his engagements, but w.ss x bit big in condition, and the next time lie faces the starter he should be much harder to dispose of. lie is engaged in the High-weight Handicap at the Opotiki meeting on King's Birthday. HAS SHOWN USEFUL FORM. After a spell since the autumn, Dutch Girl has rejoined A. Quinlivairs stable at Kilerslie. T-he daughter of Vaals and Miss Melvn looks very bright and healthy as the.result of her holiday and she should be well forward by the time the spring meetings arrive. Although not over-raced this .season. Dutch Girl has shown good foViri on several occasions, and she may do much better as a live-year-old next season. FAILED AT ELLERSLIE. During the last few weeks Enge has had several races, but they have been conhned to sprint distances. Although he failed to win. he ran a good race at the Waikato meeting when he finished second to Koyal Dance in the Stewards' Handicap. At the recent Great Northern meeting he was produced in the Members , Handicap, six furlongs, on the first day. and also in the Visitors' Handicap, of similar distance, on the last day, and though lie did not get into the money in these races the outings should do him a lot of good. At the Opoliki meeting he is engaged in the ( up and also the Farewell Handicap, MX luilongs. and if taken to the fixture the trip may prove profitable.
