LARGE SHOAL OF SPRAT.

Trapped yesterday about noon, when H.M.S. Wellington was being docked, a large catch of sprat, probably a record shoal for the dock, was found in the Calliope Dock. About four hours later, the dock being pumped dry, fish wriggled and writhed in large numbers all over the floor. To illustrate the quantity trapped, little impression was made when many people, including' children, carried away large supplies of the fish last night. According to workers who have been at the dock for a long time it was many years since so large a shoal has been caught at the one time. Until their disposal could be arranged it was decided to leave them in a few inches of water.
