STREET LIGHTING.
INTERSECTION AT REMUERA. BRITISH STANDARD CLAIMED. \ A report was submitted to the Auckland City Council last evening through the superintendent of traffic, Mr. C. Bland, in reply to attention being called by Mr. F. Iv. Hunt, S.M., as coroner, to the alleged insufficient street lighting at the Victoria Avenue-Remuera Road intersection.
The report said that it was realised that the lamps installed in Remuera Road were not of the moat modern type, and it was decided to have them replaced in the near future, but that was for the reason that the more modern type could be installed for a leaser maintenance charge, and would lessen the glare of the existing lamps. .Tests had been made of the present lighting, and the recorded readings showed that the illumination approximated the British standard and recommendations of the 4 British Electrical Development Association of England, It was considered that the statement made had not been justified. The report was adopted.
