ON 'CHANGE.

BUSINESS IS FAIR. BROKEN HILLS IMPROVE. Business on the Auckland Stock Exchange has been steady over the last '2i hours. At this morning's call the banking section was again very quiet. Buyers for Commercials dropped back to VJ/, ami Kellers of National ot Australasia (con.) lowered their limits 1/, to £7 6/. without attracting a buyer. Buyers for New Zealands dropped their offers Id, to £'2 D/ 2, sellers still at £2 o/G. Insurances again showed a slightly improved demand, and New Zealands were

quoted between £3 2/9 and £3 3/6. In the Australian section Broken Hills took another turn upward, and after business at £3 9/2 and £3 9/9 there were; still buyers at the higher figure, with j sellers up to £3 10/6. Woolworths (Sydney) were easier, with the market between £o 8/0 and £o 10/. The timber section was weak, and Kauris were quoted lower, from £1 2/10 to £1 3/6. A buyer came in for Bartholomews at 18/6, and Taupo Totara preferences were asked for at 14/6. Buyers for Farmers' Auctioneering A preferences raised their oilers to £1 2/9, and a buyer came in for Hill and Plummers at £1 1/6, with sellers at £1 4/. Peters Ice were quoted ex dividend, with sellers at £1 6/6.' Buyers for Staples' Breweries raised their offers to £1 14/3, with no sellers in sight. Government stocks were in demand at late rates, with few sellers. A Patchy Market. There was a quieter tone at noon, except in the insurance and mining sections, where values . for issues which appeared on the sales list were strong. South British were in request at £4 10/ after business at an advance of 3d, and Nationals had later buyers only a penny below the market. Holders of Kew Zealands stood off at £3 if.

The banking section revealed little change. For Xew Zealnnds buyers dropped back to £2 5/. but sellers stood still. Pukemho Collieries had firm offers at £1 4/. There was a penny rise in offers for Xew Zealand Breweries, this trend reflecting the strength of brewery .scrip. Among general industrial.-! Farmers' Trading had a confident inquiry, a bid of 19/9 which had been recorded in the morning being repeated. For Peters lec buyers came in at £1 3/6, and sellers hardened to ;£1 7/. Golden Crowns continued most popular in the mining and moved up 6d, with a final range between 9/3 and 10/. Argo, after gaining 4%d in business, as compared with the last sale a fortnight ago, -were still asked for at 1/8, but no more were -available. SALES COMPLETED. AT THE 3.15 P.M.
