PEACE EFFORTS FAIL.
HOLY LAND STRIKE TO GO ON. (Received 1.30 p.m.) JERUSALEM, June 7. The peace-making efforts of the Emir Abdullah, ruler of the Arab territory of Transjordania, have failed. Arab leaders told him that the strike would continue unless the British Government changed its policy and suspended Jewish immigration. Sniping and stoning of the police yesterday necessitated their firing several rounds on the crowd at Haifa. One person was killed and one wounded and many arrests were made before order was restored. The authorities have called up the Trans-Jordan frontier reservists in order to round up illicit arms.
