ON 'CHANGE.
WEEK OPENS QUIETLY. MOST VALUES STEADY. I A new week opened quietly 'on the Auckland Stock Exchange, with, a small list of sales at the first call and steady bidding for most lines. Banks were very quiet, but there was no change in values, and New Zealands were again quoted between £2 5/ and £2 5/6. ... Insurances were fairly firm, with buyers for all issues at late rates, the only seller being of New Zealands at £3 3/3. There was a good demand for a big range of Australian scrip, mostly on the basis of last week's rates. Goldsbroughs were firmer, with a market between £1 12/ and £ 1 12/9. The timber section was again very dull, the only buyer being for Taupo Totara at the reduced level of 9/9. Bycrofts continued firm, and a buyer moved up to £2 8/6 without response from holders. In the mining section Morgans were weak, with sellers at 14/6 and no buyers, and buyers for Blackwater dropped back 3d, to £1 14/3, sellers still asking £1 16/. Government stocks were steady at late rates. Mining Shares Selling. Mining scrip attracted most attention at noon, seven transactions being finalised, chiefly in Golden Crowns, which sold up to 9/1, and closed between 9/ and 9/3. Apart from this the market generally was dull. Insurances shared in the business at steady rates, but industrials, except for Selfridges' unlisted scrip, were exceptionally quiet. The only change in quotations for banks was a rise of 3d in offers for New Zealands. A»buyer came in for Kauris at £1 2/9. SAXES COMPLETED. AT THE 10 A.M.
