WINDOWS SMASHED

Two plateglass windows, valued at £30, in a diaper's shop at the corner of Queen and Arthur Streets, Onehunga, were smashed at 11 p.m. on May 6 by a halfton truck driven by Albert William Smith, of Seacliff Road, Onehunga. The sequel was the appearance of Smith (Mr. P. Jenkins) at the Onehunga Magistrate's Court this morning, charged with negligent driving.' Defendant pleaded not guilty. Defendant stated in evidence that when he was endeavouring to avoid a collision with a motor car his truck ran across the street, mounted the footpath and crashed into the angle of the two windows. Defendant was fined 20/ and costs.
