CITY SALE.
WELL-KNOWN BLOCK. HCLDSWORTH BUILDING. PRICE OVER FIVE FIGURES. The well-known Holdsworth Building at the corner of Albert and Swanson Street has been sold.to Wright, Stephenson and Company, Ltd., at a sum just over five figures. The sale is one of the most important made in recent years and is further evidence of confidence in the future of the Dominion. The building, which was owned by the Auckland Patriotic Association, was at one time valued at over £25,000, but the sum at which it has been sold is said to be lees than half that amount. A four-storeyed brick and concrete structure, excluding the basement, it is one of Auckland's landmarks, and for years has included not only the Patriotic Association's office, but also numerous other offices. The building has a frontage of o"ft Gin to Albert Street and 52ft Gin to Swanson Street. The fiale was effected by the firm of C. F. Bennett, Ltd.. who carried out the negotiations with Mr. F. J. C. Wilson, local manager for Wright, Stephenson and Company. It is the intention of the new owners to recondition the building throughout to carry out the necessary structural alterations, and to make it the firm's Auckland headquarters.
