RUGBY FOOTBALL.
UNIVERSITIES AT PLAY. WELLINGTON V, AUCKLAND. GAME AT EDEN PARK TO-MORROW. A Rugby match will be played at Eden Jrark to-morrow afternoon between the Auckland and Wellington University Colleges. It will be preceded by a contest between Army and Navy teams. Victoria College (Wellington) comes with a reputation of being able to play bright and attractive football and so a spectacular match may be anticipated. Several of the members of both teams toured Japan in January and February with the successful New Zealand Universities side—Bush, Lewis, Thomas and Drake (Auckland); Wild, Rae and Burke (Wellington). Blacker, the visiting skipper, was a New Zealand representative in 1929 against the Sydney University team, which toured New Zealand that season, while Rae (formerly Otago representative half-back) whs capped for the Testa against Australian Universities in 1933. Playing on one wing for the Victorians to-morrow will he Barry O'Regan, the old West Coaster so popular on Rugby and athletic fields while here for many years at Sacred Heart College. . AtrCKXANI) jctEFERKES. ADDRESS BY MR. V. R. MEREDITH. The weekly meeting of the Auckland Rugby Referees' Association was presided over by the president, Mr. A. A. Lucas. There was an attendance of 55 members. Mr. V. R. Meredith, manager of the 1P35-36 All Blacks in Great Britain, gave an interesting talk on his impressions during the tour. The South Auckland Referees' Association was granted affiliation for the 1936 season. Mr. E. Pearce, an ex-member of the Otago Referees' Association, now transferred to Auckland, was welcomed, and elected a member. Mr. J. Kirkpatrick, of the Canterbury Referees' Association, was accepted ontransfer as a member. The junior boys' management committee notified that the Bert Palmer Memorial Shield would be again competed for this season under similar conditions to those obtaining in previous seasons.
