WORK AT ELLERSLIE. Beautiful weather 'prevailed for training at Ellerslie this morning. No. 2 gi;ass track was available and the . going was good, but there was not a great deal of galloping executed. Wee Pat finished in front of Royal Appellant and Knight of Australia at the end of seven furlongs in 1.32.4-5. Wee Pat did her work well: Rereatu ran seven' furlongs in 1.30 3-5, while Whirlmint and Solas were; on terms at the com-; pletion of five furlongs in, 1.5 1-5. Fleetwind -and Landlubber were together at the end of five.furlongeinl.3 3-5. • • Jolly Dance ran three" furlongs in 41s, while Te Broney covered six in 1.17 2-5. Te Hai was doing better; than Valspear at the conclusion of five furlongs in 1.3, which was the beat of the morning over; the distance. Lord Val sprinted half a mile in 53 3-ss. There was not much between San toft, Town Beauty, Billy ' Boy and United at the conclusion of seven fur-, longs in 1.34 4-5. Shy was goi%_ better than Mountain Bruce at the finish ,of seven furlongs, the lastf six taking LlB 3-5. The Jumpers. Gascille (Craddock) jumped the steeplechase fences on the fiat well, and afterwards did two rounds of strong .pace work on the sand. Black Marlin (Fergus) and King Mestor (Baker) jumped away at the mile post on the course proper to school over #four hurdles. Black Marlin slipped ac the first and lost his rider, King Mestor, goiig oi; to complete the journey alone, his time for the mile beipg'l.s3 1-5 1 . Black Marlin later was sent over two hurdles a lon*,' the back on the course proper, jumping without mistake. Chief Emerald (Craddock) did not have much pace on while jumping four hurdles in the centre, but got through his task safely. The full-sister to Dark Prince, who has been named Electric Flash (Sharkey), and Ruling King (Williams) were sent, over the fences on the flat .and two hurdles along the back. • Electric; Flash continued, on up the hillj while Ruling King • went round on the course ptoper, ,ar:d again rejoined Electric Flash before reaching the .sod wall, the pair again, taking the fences on the flat. Electric F|ash jumped well, while Ruling King also showed great improvement-. * ) . •••• ; Absent (Sharkey) started off .at the brush by the inile post and continued along the back and over the hid, completing his task by negotiating ths fences on the flat. He jumped well throughout. Gay Princess (Baker) was schooled oyer a couple of hurdles in the centre, eiouting the second very hard. , , , Zane Gr.ey (Fergus) was also schooled over the big fences,' giving a good disWiggins, whose term of suspension expires Friday week, will have the mount on Knight of Australia m the Cornwall Handicap and Tradesman in the Members Handicap.
