POWER CHANGES.
ALTERNATING CURRENT. RESERVATIONS BY BOARD. The decision of the Auckland Electric Power Board to change over the whole of the area now being supplied by direct current to alternating current was further discussed at a meeting of the board yesterday afternoon. A report from the general manager, Mr. R. H. Bartley, which was adopted, said that the change-over would be made from time to time as circumstances permitted and as conditions of loading demanded, but in the meantime the board desired to place on record the terms and conditions upon which the present direct current supply was continued.
They were as follow:—The board expressly reserves the right to discontinue at such time as may be necessary," in pursuance of the general change-over from direct current to alternating current, the supply of direct current now given "to ,any particular plant; such direct current supply will not be discontinued until an adequate supply of alternating current is available for the premises in which the direct current plant is situated; where upon the discontinuance of such direct current supply the consumer decides to install alternating current plant, in place of direct current plant, an adjustment will be made by the board' in those ■ cases where, the existing direct current plant has not" lbst its value through depreciation, obsolescence or other causes; for the purpose of determining the value of the plant under' the provisions of the preceding condition, depreciation on such direct current plant will be calculated at not less than 6 per cent per annum.
