NAVAL RATINGS.
FOUR DAYS' TRAINING. MINE-SWEEPING OPERATIONS. Four days will be spent in the training of R.N.V.R. ratings who left port this morning in lI.M. ships Wellington, Leitli and Wakaknra to carry out extensive mine-sweeping operations in tfye Hauraki Gulf and its vicinity. About 2.30 p.m. the Wakaknra joined the sloops, and the Oropesa, a float used in' mine sweeping, was exercised in formation. Manoeuvres will be carried out on the way to the anchorage. The sloops will weigh anchor at 9.30 a.m., approximately, on Tuesday, R.N.V.R.'s from the Wakakura having previously embarked. During the day mine sweeping and manoeuvres will be carried out, night encounter exercise taking place after dark. Wednesday's programme will consist of further exercise in mine sweeping, and on Thursday morning the ships will practice the clearing of a sweep with a dummy mine, returning to their base on Thursday evening. During the week the auxiliary vessels' signal book will be used
