MOUNT MORGANS DECLINE. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The new week opened with good activity. Once again emphasis was on Australian miscellaneous issues, which brought rising values and had keen buying orders. Chief interest lay in Broken Hill Proprietary's, which recorded a rise of 9d and Bd, compared with last week, the market closing firm with buyers £3 4/6, to sellers £3 4/9. Less attention was paid to Government stocks, but sellers were still off the list, leaving buyers for the 1940 stock at £102 10/, • and for 1955's at £10fl.. The banking section was quiet. New Zealands eased 2d, after which buyers offered £2 5/2 sellers were penny above. Nationals were on offer at £3 15/, with no buyers. Breweries shares had steady rates. TooLh's rose substantially compared with last business, closing at almost the same levels as New Zealands. Rising ..values were recorded in the miscellaneous division, especially in Australian stocks. Dominion issues were dull, price levels being practically unchanged. Australian Glass firmed to 3d above £4 • 10/, witli further sellers at the sale price and buyers at £4 9/6. Dunlops also were better. Mount Lyells looked better, but Blount Morgans were again weak at sales ■town to 14/8, further sellers offering at that figure. Shillings dropped a point among the unlisted stocks.
