SHORT OF TOTAL.
OTAGO FRUIT EXPORT. APPLES LEFT BEHIND. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") DUNEDIN, Saturday. The final Export of fruit from Otago for the season just past lias been sent away 280 eases short of the total consignment expected to be carried by the Coptic, which ieft last week. In all, some 14,000 cases of Stunners were taken to the ship for carriage to London, but the holds were completely filled before the last 280 cases were placed on board, and these were railed baek to Dunedin from Port Chalmers to be placed in cold storage. While inquiries were being 'made as to whether space would be available for them in another vessel sailing for Home, it was discovered that they could not be taken, do they have been released on the local market. This is the first time that a portion of the export from Otago has not been sent away. One small shipment is also "being sent to the East this season by the Narbada, which leaves "for Calcutta | via Australia in a week's time.
