Enthusiastic Crowds Assemble At Croydon. OFFICIAL CONGRATULATIONS. Uritish Official Wireless. (Received 1- noon.) RUGBY, May 15. When Mrs. Mollison landed at Croydon she was enthusiastically cheered by large crowds which broke through the police cordons and surrounded her Pcrcival Mew Gull aeroplane. They mobbed the pilot herself who, when she landed, was greeted by her husband and relatives. i The Deputy-Director of Civil Aviation, Mr. J. G. Gibson, handed her a letter of congratulation from the Air Secretary, Viscount Swinton, who wrote: "Your double flight is a splendid achievement." i The bad weather which forced Mrs. Mollison to land yesterday evening at Graz in Austria and to spend the night there prevented her from reducing the time by about half a day more, as she hoped .to do. Her time on the outward flight by the west coast route was >i j days I) hours 23 minutes, and on this flight she lowered Flight-Lieutenant Rose's-record-by 11 hours 11 minutes, j Tier Percival. .Mew Gull cabin monoplane is powered by a Gipsy six, 200 horse-power engine, fitted with extra tankage giving a nun-stop range of more than 2000 mile?. Gull aeroplanes have prove'd very popular, and considerable numbers have been exported ■ overseas, including to Australia. India, France, Sweden, Egypt, Japan and China. AUSTRALIAN SERVICE. 'PLANE LEAVES SINGAPORE. j (Receiver! 9.30 a.m.) SINGAPORE, May 15. The first aeroplane for the duplicated j Qantas service to Australia left Singa- ! pore yesterday morning. It carried two passengers and 2201b of mail matter.
