MURDER CHARGE VERDICT. WAITEPEKA TRAGEDY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Saturday. The trial of Hugh Urquhart Neil Gunn on a charge of murdering William Beattie at Waitepeka 011 February 22 was concluded in the Supreme Court to-day.

His Honor's summing-up concluded at 1.6 p.m., when the jury retired.

The jury returned at 2.42 with a vcrdiet of not guilty.

The Crown alleged that aceu6cd struck deceased with a manuka stick, but the charge was denied by the defence. It was stated for the defence that deceased was probably injured when a horse which accused was driving reared up and threw Beattie against a post.
