THE CLOSURE.

PASSAGE OF BILLS. GOVERNMENT DETERMINED. IMPORTANT LEGISLATION. \Sy Telegraph.—l'arllnmentnry Reporter." WELLINGTON, this day*. The Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, intimated to-day that tho Government wished to have both the Primary Products Marketing Bill and the Arbitration Bill passed by the House of Representatives this week. The Marketing Bill, he said, would take precedence, and when the House resumed to-morrow afternoon he proposed to ask for urgency for the second reading. . However, he did not intend to be unreasonable about the matter, and would allow members an opportunity of discussing the bill further, but he would not allow the bill to be held 11 p indefinitely.

"While we have the weapon that has been supplied to us by the Opposition we will use it to prevent unreasonable obstruction," saiil Mr. Savage in referring to the closure provision, lie added that he did not want more than reasonable progress on the bill to-morrow.

Questioned regarding the short adjournment of the session, the Pfime Minister said ho hoped that it would be possible to take it about the end of this month. The Government aimed at having a sufficient break to enable it to shape the remainder of its programme for the year, so that when the House resumed after a period of about four or five weeks the Budget and the additional legislation required would be ready.
