MOUNT EDEN PARK ROADWAY.

1 would like to draw attention to the condition of, the beautiful Mount Eden park. The carriage drive is in a deplorable condition; it is hardly fit to drive a horse and dray over, let alone cars that cost hundreds of pounds, and if one happens to be walking on the eastern side of the drive in line weather one is covered in dust as cars pass, and it is almost impossible to see for several minutes afterwards. I wonder if any of the councillors ever take a walk on the rough footpaths. I don't think so, especially if they have tender feet or a few corns. Then they would think of other people and make them a bit more pleasant to walk on. Just fancy elderly people trying to walk on the tracks covered with stones and. waterways, anything from 3in to lOin deep, most distressing to try* to walk on. Better seating accommodation i l * badly needed. There were at one time a few seats, so that one could rest, but they have fallen to bits. Then there is yet another consideration, and one that calls for a little discussion by the Mount Eden Borough Council—that is the lavatories. Surely these are essential. Mount Eden is as good a park as one can find in any part of the world, and is certainly the most neglected place in the country. Beautiful terraces with old Maori pits are full of rubbish, piles of dry grass an ! leaves, and broken bottles are to be s" everywhere. • OLD TIN PLATK.
