WEEK OPENS FAIR. BANK OF NEW ZEALAND SELLING. ' I There was a norma) opening at this morning's call of ■ the Auckland Stock Exchange, with steady bidding at the ■week-end rates. Buyers came in more freely for Bank of New Zealand, and the shares were placed at £2 5/0 and £2 5/6, which compares ■with the last sale at £2 7/ a fortnight ago. Commercials were easy between 19/11 and £1 0/2. insurances were dull, the only buyer, being for New Zealands at £3 1/. In the coal section Xaupiris were active, with a market for the ordinaries between 17/6 and 18/6, and buyers for the preferences at £1 1/. Sellers of Peters Ice Cream raised their limits 6d, to £1 8/6.

Government stocks were in keen demand, but only one parcel was on offer, namelj* of *'38-'4l's, at £102. 10/. Owing to external noises from building operations the calling of unlisted shares was deferred till the noon call. Weaker Tone in Banks. There was a noticeably weaker tone in the banking section at noon. Buyers of Commercials dropped back to 19/S and holders reduced their limits to £1. Buyers dropped out for all other issues, except New South Wales. Insurances remained dull, with buyers of New Zealands Cd lower after a sale at a reduced figure. Kauri Timbers were available 6d below the morning figure, and a buyer offered a penny more. Interest was shown in the brewery section and also in industrials, but little business resulted. Peters Ice Cream. Through inadvertence the shares in Peters Ice Cream were quoted on Saturday as sellers 18/ instead of £18/. SALES COMPLETED. AT THE 10 A.M.
