IN PRISON CAMPS.
There has been reported in a recent paper a complaint about a prisoner not being properly attended to in a prison camp and asking that an inquiry be held as it was suggested that his subsequent death in hospital was causea by prison authorities not doing as they should. Unfortunately, I have been an inmate of several of these places, and have been given jobs of such a nature that I know what I am talking about. At no time have I seen or heard of a prisoner not getting the best of care and medical attention, and no prisoner was expected to work if not able to do so. I have never scon ill-treatment, as some would lgad us to believe—but 1 have seen dozens of cases of deliberate malingering, though I do not in any way suggest it in this case. Is it any wonder the authorities have to be careful? COMMON SEXSE.
