Miss Betty Wallace, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Wallace, of Matamata, has received advice that as a result of an examination for bookkeeping she has been selected as gold medallist. La.it year she passed her examination in bookkeeping with 100 per cent of the marks allotted. Now she has been advised that as a result of this success she has been selected as gold medallist.

The position of lady superintendent of nurses at the Christchurch Hospital, rendered vacant by the resignation of Miss Hose Muir, was filled at a meeting of the North Canterbury Hospital Board, on the recommendation of the hospital committee. The new lady superintendent is Miss G. Widdowson, at present assistant matron. Miss M. F. Barnett, who has been engaged in the teaching of nurses, has been appointed assistant matron.
