£3,000,000 Surplus Shown in Britain. COSTLY SUPPLEMENT ARIES. (Received" 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, March 31. Revenue returns issued by the Treasury at the close of the iinancial year to-night show that the Budget has been balanced and that there is a surplus of just under £3,000,000 against an estimated surplus of £500,000. Supplementary Estimates presented during the year total £29,750,000, of which £13,100,000 was for defence. These Supplementary Estimates exceeded the Budget provisions by £21,750,000.
