EGOISTS.

I read in the '"Star" that at a social, in his reply to a speech at the Fabian clubrooms, amongst other things, a local member of Parliament said, "The eyes of the world are on New Zealand and I think the world will learn, a lot." I am New Zealand-born, but have spent most of my time in England, India and the Far East. In the course of my wanderings 1-liave found ignorance of New Zealand very real; in fact, I don't think I would be far wrong in stating that at least GO or 70 per cent of the people in the Old Country do not even know where New Zealand is, much less do they follow New Zealand politics. I am a believer in sticking up for one's own eountix but I should never dream of boasting to such an extent as this member. It these people really travelled a little they would find how small a tiling New Zealand politics are. SAPPER.
