A GOOD WOOL SALE.
At to-day's wool sale a record was created for Auckland in the amount of wool offered and the amount sold. It Avas a good close to the season in that the clearance was an exceptionally large percentage of the total offering. This was an indication of a healthy market. Prices were 011 a par with recent sales, and the farmers have wisely decided by now that the best course is to meet brokers and quit their stocks. In the long run steady values, provided costs are covered, arc preferable to seasonal fluctuations. The lesson of recent seasons is that it does not pay to hold wool back for later sales, for surpluses have a depressing effect on prices. To-day farmers can look forward to a maintenance of favourable prices next season, for the simple reason that wool is going into consumption all along ihe line. Manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers aro doing active business, and, best of all, Bradford, the great centre of the wool industry, is leading all rivals in industrial activity.
