BOOT BREAKS N.Z. RECORD.
HALF MILE AT CHRISTCHURCH. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. Y. P. Boot ran half a mile at Lancaster Park to-night in 1.53 2-5, breaking the New Zealand record of 1.54 4-5 (held by C. V. Evans), with ease. His run waa made on a dead track in a handicap race, with T. G. Broadway, off scratch, with him. Boot Is considered capable of getting still further below the record and a move will be made to reopen the question of sending him to the Olympic Games. lie will make an attempt on Saturday on the 1000 yards record.
