PAPAKURA TOWN BOARD.
The fortnightly meeting of the Papakura Town Board was held last evening, Mr. 11. E. McEntee presiding.
Motions of Sympathy.—Motions of sympathy were passed with the relatives of the late Messrs. Robert Willis and George Hobson, the members standing as a tokeu of respect.
New Drivers' Award. —The chairman severely criticised the proposed wages and hours in the proposed award of the Drivers' Union, and the board decided to support the Auckland local bodies in their protest against the award.
Health Officer's Report,.—The sanitary inspector reported 22 inspections for the month of February. There were no infectious cases reported for the period.
Fire Prevention Week.—lt was decided to leave the arrangements for fire prevention week, proposed by the Hon. W. K. Parry, in the hands of Superintendent J. Richardson.
Football Grounds. —The League and Rugby clubs applied for the use of Prince Edward Park and the Railway Reserve for the coming season. The applications were referred to the parks committee.
New Bowling Green. —The clerk was instructed to proceed with the lease of Village Green to the bowling club.
