LAWN TENNIS.
WEST END CLUB
Presidents' Day at the West End Tennis Club was staged on Saturday last, when the pavilion was bedecked with bunting, and a large concourse of members' and friends foregathered for the occasion. The Auckland Lawn Tennis Association was represented by Mr. P. Harrison (president) and Mr. N. C. Pierce (secretary).
During the afternoon a Yankee tournament was played, the prize winners being: Ladies, Mrs. J. McKain, Mrs. Hair, and Miss L. Thomass; men, F. Robinson, G. Cornes, N. Dixon.
Mrs. Stan Cleal, wife of the president, presented the prizes. In the evening a social was held, when the proceeds of the donation drive, amounting to £142, was announced. Suitable presentations were made to Messrs. Cash, C'allinau and Wright for services rendered in successfully carrying out the drive.
Among the ladies present were: Mesdames P. Harrison, N. 15. Pierce, G. McLeod, P. Mackie, W. Thomass, G. Frieberg, H. Totman, W. Pardiugton, G. Green, C., Langbeer, F. Kerr, F. Tetton, Martin Sullivan, F. Blanks, J. Gardiner, W. Gow, S. Anderson and J. C. Williams.
