Association Garden Party. The ladies' Auxiliary of the 80, Scouts' Association is working hard jus now on the linal organisation in connei tion with the garden party, which is t be held 011 Saturday next, at the 110111 of Mr. and Mrs. Melvern, 22, Landscap Koad, Epsom. The Mayoress of Aucklanc Mrs. Ernest Davis, has agreed to ope the function, which should prove to be bright and entertaining afternoon ft young and old alike. Although in th Epsom postal area, Landscape Road i most easily reached from the Thrc Kings tram route. " Taka's " Annual. Ship ahoy!! Ahoy! All aboar< cast off, and away we sailed on Satui day morning last, a shipload of Taka puna Wolf Cubs, bound for Rangitotc an unknown shore, a foreign land. Wha a glorious voyage.
On landing we made Scoutville, kindly lent by the Devon ports, our headquarters, and got into our mountaineei - ing dress (or undress) to make the ascent. Talk about climbing Mount Everest, they should have seen us go up Rangi. The wallaby joined the party half way up, and invited us to luncli. lie was delighted to see us, and though lie did not say much, lie was very friendly, quite one of the party, and shared everybody's lunch, except the cub's, who left his in the bus at Devonport. Wo went through the caves, but the pirates had not seemed to leave anything but plenty of bumps and scratches, and these we brought away with us. Having reached the summit of the mountain, everybody wanted a swim, so, 0 of course, the very next thing to be e done quickly was to get down again and f "into the pond." The water polo match l ' was not quite a success, because several " cubs were soccers. and wanted to kick a the ball instead of throwing it. : 1 As several of the pack had eaten their e tea with their lunch, stores .had, to be s requisitioned to keep tlieni alive until e their return home. By this tfrne sitting down games were most in favour; "rounders" didn't go, so we filled "Tommy Tenderfoot's" haverl, Rack, and hunted the , "Priest _of the •- Parish's" hat until the good ship Olive Rose pushed lier nose alongside the >, wharf again and took aboard a pack of t weary wolves. And a jolly good tihie we'd had.
