MANUKAU COUNTY.
MONTHLY COUNCIL MEETING.
Tho Manukau County Council held its monthly meeting yesterday, the chairman, Mr. F. M. Waters, being in the chair.
The engineer, Mr. J. R. Page, reported that a total of 201 men had been employed on relief work during the month This showed a further slight decrease, and the complement in some campe was »noticcd to be below ordinary strength. "
Building permits during the month totalled in value £1709 15/, reported the county inspector, Mr. W. W. Murray.
The state of the Buckland's Beach highway, concerning which there was a good deal of correspondence in the columns of the ''Auckland Star" recently, was brought before the meeting by Mr. D. Bell, member for Pakuranga. It was decided that the county engineer, after consulation with the Main Highways engineer, should prepare plans and estimates for the permanent surfacing of the highway. j -
