ROWING.

PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS. ALTERATION TO PROGRAMME. A special meeting of the Auckland Rowing Association executive was held last night to consider the report of the committee that visited the Whau course during the week-end. After consideration, it was decided that, as there would be 13 crews competing in the heavy maiden fours event, to start the race later in the day when the tide would be higher. The alteration, it was held, would obviate the danger of any crews being forced to row in. shallow water. Following is the amended time-table: — Junior fours, 2.20 p.m.; single sculls, 2.40 p.m.; maiden eights, 3 p.m.; race for members of the Jubilee Club, senior fours, 3.20 p.m.; light maiden fours, 3.40 p.m.; junior eights, 4 p.m.; heavy maiden fours, 4.20 p.m.; youths' fours, 4.50 p.m.

OTAGO SKIFF DAMAGED.

DUNEDIN, Monday. While skimming over the sheltered waters of Deborah Bay yesterday Otago's representative eight-oar crew struck a submerged pile, which ripped a hole for about 14ft in the cedar boat in which they were training. The boat, valued at over £100, is that in which six inter-provincial events have been contested. Repairs will be costly and are not covered by insurance. Another boat has been reconditioned for use for training purposes.
