ORPHEUS CLUB.
In the rooms of the Overseas League last evening there was an excellent attendance of members and their friends for the opening of the third season of the Orpheus Music and Dramatic Club. The programme opened with a piano solo by Joyce McKean, "Prelude Solennel" (Harris). This was followed by vocal solos, Massenet's "The Dream" and Mallinson's "Daybreak," sung by Roger Erriiigton. Next Lorna Frith was heard in a selection from Chopin, "Polonaise in C Sharp Minor." Compositions by Schubert and Loughborough were tlie choice of Delme Goldsmith, who sang "Rosebud" and "A Night Idyll." The next item was an elocutionary ono by Doreen Saunders, who was followed by Frances E. French playing the Cyril Scott transcription of Bach's "My Heart Ever Faithful."
Robert Simmers contributed a bracket of songs, "An Epitaph" (Besly) and "Shepherd, See Thy Horse's Foaming Mane" (Korbay). Sea shanties, "Shenandoah" and "Billy Boy," afranged for the piano by Rutland, were played by Edna Bunting. Muriel Collicoat followed, singing "Les Ycux" by Rabey, and the "Waltz Song'' from "Romeo et Juliette," by Gounod. Last of the piano numbers was a bright duo, "Saint-Saens' Polonaise Opus 77." This was played by Tlieo. Halpin and Lucy Tripp. The Vocal duet, "Be Mine the Delight" from Gounod's "Faust," was sung by Robert Simmers and Roger Errington. The programme closed with a dramatic sketch, the performers being Mary Pilkington, Gwen McGowan, Richard Sharp, Howard Newcombe and Jack Parsons.
