CITY TATTERSALL'S. SALAMANDER TAKES CUP. GAY BLONDE SECOND IN STAKES. SYDNEY,.March 15. Although beaten out of a place in the Randwick Stakes at the City Tattersall a meeting at Randwick yesterday, Peter Pan was not disgraced. He was pocketed at the turn and appeared to falter, yet he just missed a place. . He pulled up well. The winner, Sarcherie, made her own pace and, although she was hotly challenged by Gay Blonde, she lasted long enough to win by a narrow margin. Master Briefly got away badly. Scratclimero Scar shaped reasonably well. Contact looked extremely dangerous to the last stride. Tho Youthful StaVcs was notable for the failure of Billy Boy, who got away badly, almost came down at the half mile, and finished last. Talking won in great stylo from the much-fancied Spirits. Eginont was just beaten in the City Tattersall's Cup by Salamander, who was always in tho leading division. Hadrian fulfilled expectations in winning tho Denham Stakes, but did not show the sarao dash as in the spring. Vista, who was beaten only -by half a head, was kicked four times at the barrier. C. W. Maher was suspended for one month for not making a pr.oper •effort to keep Contact on a. straight course in the Stakes, this resulting in Gay Blonde and King's Head being hampered at the home turn. It was ascertained that Regal Star had severed a tendon in the City Tattersall's Cup, and a decision whether the horse will be destroyed will bo made on Monday.
