NORTHERN COMMAND.

TRAINING AT ARAWA PARK.

With nearly 300 men, including officers and N.C.O.'s, under canvas. Arawa Park is at present the scene of considerable military activity. The camp, which is the largest of its kind to be held in Rotorna, will have been attended when it concludes bv every unit in the Northern Command.

An advance party of the first, unit to undergo training arrived on February 11, and the last unit to be under canvas will break camp on April 24. Under the command of Major D. H. McHugh, the camp has been a great success from the point of view of territorial training, the lay out of Arawa Tark and the general surroundings of the district being ideally suited for the purpose. Each unit receives seven days' instruction, officers and N.C.O.'s .in every ease being in camp for 10 days. A mock battle is held every week on Atiamuri Range, tactical exercises according to the units in camp being carried out. The units at present under canvas, +]ie 21st Battery, N.Z.A. (Onehunga), the North- Auckland Regiment and the Ist Field Ambulance Corps, will march „i.t in formation from the main camp to-morrow evening for Atiamuri, where thev "ill bivouac for the night, commencing exercises next morning. The ambulance division will «crect main and advance stations en to The Itorth Auckland Regiment will leave Rotorna by special train fnr Auckland on Friday evening and •n i o i-pnlaced by the Waikato Regiment Officers and N.C.O.'s will arrive n camp on Saturday morning for a three course of instruction, the mam tody following on Wednesuay.
