i WORK AT ELLERSLIE. KEREATU SPRINTS FAST. GASCILLE AXD KING MESTOR SCHOOL. Xo. 2 grass track available for fast work at Ellerslie this morning, and despite the rain, that fell overnight the going was in good order. The best sprint of the morning w.tus accomplished by Rereatu, who ran six furlongs in 1.14 4-3. Others to record useful efforts were Free Advice, Ringshot and I'alardo. Thespis strode over-a round in 1.37 1-5. Ho ran the last half-mile in. 57 4-,55, and was doing it easily throughout. Valspear was going nicely beside Poi Lance at the of five furlongs, which occupied 1.5 3-5. Valspear is in fine racing trim, and there is a possibility that he may later be taken to Australia. Hunting Maid , finished up a useful task by running her last three furlongs in 41 3-ss, doing it easily. Persian Lady was not at top at any part of a round that took "2.0, the last six furlongs taking 1.21) 1-5. Rereatu, after running his first three furlongs in 36 3-ss, got to the end of six in 1.14 4-5. j It was a first-class effort, and he was running on strongly at the finish. Free Advice sprinted half a mile in 51 2-ss, and Ringshot and Palardo covered the same distance in 51 3-ss. Psychologist ran the last seven furlongs of a round in 1.34 1-5, and the final three in 38 2-5.5. Saltspray got to the end of six furlongs in 1.20 3-5, the first two taking 25 2-ss. He k a very free worker, and lias made good headway since arriving at Ellerslie. Overdue finished up his work by running the last three furlongs in 44 3-ss. To Broney was given an easy six furlongs, and covered the distance in 1.23 4-5. Te Hai reeled off half a mile in 52 l-ss. is hoise will make his next appearance at Paeroa, and later at the Bay of Plenty meeting. Raepata and Little Man were about on terms at the end of three furlongs, which took 39 2-ss. Vera Acre, after beginning slowly over a round, took 1.37 3-5 for her last seven furlongs, and 40 3-5s for the final three. After Breakfast. Valmint got to the end of six furlongs in 1.23. He could have improved upon] the time considerably. School Song ran home from the three-furlong post in 42 3-ss. He was kicked up at the finish, audi is evidently a lazy worker. Captain Bruce was holding Ruling King safely at the'end of six furlongs in 1.25 1-5, the first three furlongs taking 41 4-ss. Illumani and King Spear sprinted three furlongs in 41 l-ss. There was little between them at the finish, and both shaped nicely. Other horses to do useful tasks were Te Kapia, Gemland, Versant, Courthaven, Royal Appellant, Fleetwind, Landlubber, Kelly, Red Flame, Black Marlln, Enlightenment, Prince Abb. Gallant Knight, ( Gay Step and Speareourt. The Jumper.;. King Mestor (Baker) was schooled over : four hurdles in the centre, giving a fast ■ and clean display of jumping. j Gascille (R. E. Thomson) was sent over the steeplechase fences on the flat, and although he got in rather close to the first fence of the double, his exhibition was a good one.
