ENJOYABLE SOCIAL.
OTAHUHU CALEDONIANS. An excellent programme was presented at an inglcside organised by the Otahuhu Caledonian Society in the Otahuhu Public Hall 011 Saturday night. Exhibitions of Highland dancing and national dances were given by Misses Doreen Smith. Gladys Backenridge, Joyce Cain and Anita Copeland. of Auckland, each dancer also contributing a solo number. Humorous monologues were rendered by Miss Mary Andrew, of Kohimarama. and Mrs. ,T. S. Black and Mrs. T. Massicks, of Auckland, sang Scottish duets. Messrs. R. A. Archibald and R. B. Browne rendered the piping accompaniments, and the accompaniments and music for the dance programme were plaved bv Mrs. J. McDowell and Mr. W. M. Beck. An original feature of the evening was a community sonjr leader contest, four members being allotted a group of singers each, and their efforts being judged by four other members. Wordmakinj* competitions and "affinity .cjnnres" added to the enjoyment.
The ladies' committee, who serve.l supper, comprised Mesdamcs W. L. Pirie, H. Weir and J. Greenall and Miss I. Hardie.
